Recent Activities:
Positive Images of Breastfeeding
  • Hosting a Positive Images of Breastfeeding photo contest.        Click here to view the images on the Sonoma County Breastfeeding Coalition website.
  • Used the winning images to develop a 2010 calendar which was distributed county-wide and beyond.

Mother-Baby Friendly Workplace Awards
  • Seeking nominations for Mother-Baby Friendly Workplace Awards. Deadline for nominations is June 1, 2010.  Click here for the 2011 nomination form.  Click here for previous award winners.

Championing Model Hospital Policies related to breastfeeding
  • Working with local delivery hospitals to align practice and polices with Mother Baby Friendly or Model Hospital Policies. 

Sponsoring a Lactation Education Series
  • Providing professional lactation education to Public Health Nurses and Social Workers working with at risk women and families in their homes.

Library Activities
  • Developed and distrbuted bookmarks that promote breastfeeding duration:
Wondermoms Bookmark- English
Wondermoms Bookmark- Spanish
Children Who Were Breastfed- English
Children Who Were Breastfed- Spanish
  • Developed a Lego dislay for libraries demonstrating the ingredients  found only in human milk.
  • Donated bilingual Mama's Milk books to local libraries. 
  • Working with area librarians to identify breastfeeding books, resources and literature to add to their current selection.

World Breastfeeding Week
  • Received a Board of Supervisors Proclamation declaring August World Breastfeeding Week
  • Developed an 8x12 foot Positive Images of Breastfeeding display for the Board of Supervsors Lobby.
