The California Breastfeeding Coalition (CBC), formed in May 2003, serves as an umbrella organization for the 43 regional breastfeeding coalitions located throughout California. The CBC aims, through collaborative efforts, to create a more healthful California through the promotion and support of breastfeeding.
Whether you're a professional, researcher, business owner, or family member, we hope our website will give you the resources and tools you need to promote and support breastfeeding in your community.

New California Law Adds Protection
for Breastfeeding Women
AB 2386 became effective on January 1, 2013. The law amends the California Fair Employment and Housing Act and clarifies that the term "sex" includes breastfeeding or medical conditions related to breastfeeding in addition to gender, pregnancy, childbirth, and medical conditions related to pregnancy or childbirth.
Discrimination against breastfeeding women is explicitly prohibited in employment and housing accommodations.
